1) Print out "ELA Test Tips and Tricks" from this website. Bring it to class with you EVERY DAY.
2) Complete pp.12-22 of your ELA prep books. Use the notes you took in class today for the Listening questions (pp.12-14). ALL questions must be answered. I will grade them tomorrow.
3) IF YOU OWE ME A ROMEO AND JULIET BOOK, YOU MUST RETURN IT TO ME OR PAY THE FINE!!!!!!!!! A list of "book bandits" is up on the board in my room - please check if you are on it!

1) Complete the Venn Diagram and answer the 10 movie questions on a separate sheet of paper. These will be collected on Monday.
2) Complete pp. 1-11 of your ELA books (25 multiple choice questions). Be sure to read the questions before you read the passages so you can have a clearer focus as you read. Due MONDAY! You will be quizzed on the reading passages to please don't skim them or simply guess on the multiple choice.
*Your ELA books must be with you in class EVERY DAY NEXT WEEK! If you leave yours at home, you will be given a 0 for classwork that day and you won't be able to participate in the lesson. Read more >>

~The Nurse is often seen as a comedic character who offers "comic relief" to an otherwise tragic story. Find at least 3 examples in 2.4 of the Nurse being unintentionally comedic or humorous. Write down the ORIGINAL quotation (not translated version) and explain what is funny in each example in 3-4 sentences.
~If you did not complete the Directed Reading questions in class, you must finish them at home by Monday. Here they are:

1. Finish "Love Letter" assignment - DUE TOMORROW!
2. Finish reading 2.2 (Act 2, Scene 2) in Romeo and Juliet.
3. Choose the most important parts of the dialogue between Romeo and Juliet in the famous balcony scene and transform their conversation in to a modern day TEXT MESSAGE or AIM (Instant Messenger) conversation between the two lovebirds. If you are doing an AIM conversation, please create screen names for both. Romeo and Juliet must EACH have 15 lines throughout the conversation, for a total of 30 lines. Be creative and modernize their conversation, but make sure you keep the original images and ideas found in Shakespeare's text, including the plan the two of them make. Please type this assignment up!

a) DUE TOMORROW (3/18): Complete your sonnets on the template given to you in class. Your sonnet can be about any subject of your choice, but it MUST follow the format: ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme, 14 lines, 10 syllables per line.
b) DUE FRIDAY (3/19): Research a love sonnet written by William Shakespeare and transform it into a lover letter written in modern English prose. The letter can be addreseed to a boyfriend/girlfriend, parent, friend, relative, or even a pet. Use as many images, themes, and figurative language from the original sonnet as possible in your letter. Both Shakespeare's sonnet and your letter must be submitted as part of the assignment. MUST BE TYPED!

"The Lost Manuscript" - We are never told in the play, but how did the feud between the Capulets and Montagues begin? Using either the format of either a LETTER, NEWS ARTICLE, JOURNAL/DIARY ENTRY, or POLICE REPORT, you are to make up a reason behind the feud.
