Midterm Exam Advice from a Pro
With 12 years of experience in High School and College I've taken a lot of midterms and final. So let me suggest a study schedule that will help you with Physics as well as your other midterms.
This Week (Tue. - Fri.)
Collect all of the notes, study guides, and other materials you need. You want to do this before you sit down for some serious studying over the weekend.
Make sure that your teachers' expectations are totally clear. Ask questions about the review sheets and what is going to be on the exam. You don't want to waste time studying what won't be on the exam.
Over the weekend (Sat. - Sun.)
Set aside a set amount of time (at least 2 hours) to study for each subject on your own (its better to meet with classmates after you've studied by yourself first).
Go through the entire review sheet and put each bullet point in a category:
1. Things you know for sure and don't need to study
2. Things you basically know but need to study to memorize them
3. Things you don't know at all and need to relearn)
Write down, in detail, any questions that you have about the review sheet so that you can ask your teacher in class on Monday.
Monday
Ask you teachers any questions that you wrote down over the weekend.
Set-up study groups for later in the week with people that you know will help you, not distract you. Friends are not always the best study partners.
Exam Week (Tue. - Fri.)
Set aside time to study the day before each class, you want to schedule time according to which exam you need to study for more.
Study with class mates as well as on your own. You need to know the material without help on the exam, so set aside some independent study time.
Don't kill yourself cramming! Studies show that cramming is ineffective and that it is more important to be well rested and de-stressed than to cram that extra few hours of study time at 2 AM. GET AT LEAST 8 HOURS OF SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE AN EXAM
