You Try Changing Colors!
It's all green as far as the eye can see. There's light green, there's moss green, there's dark green, there's sea green, there's blue green etc. In front of you is green. Then, something green moves, leaving behind some more green. The green actually...runs. Yet, you don't even know in the tiniest bit what that was. Guess who?
If you guessed chameleon, you are correct. The cool thing about chameleons is that they can change colors (and they can do it when they want to). How many times have you seen a human change colors before? (Besides turning red in the sun, blue from being cold, blushing, pale etc. :) ) I mean to really change colors when you want to. Chameleons can. Actually, as a matter of fact, their lives actually depend on it.
Changing colors is called camouflage. It means to change colors to blend into the background. Chameleons (or other animals such as lizards) blend into their background so that their predators cannot catch them. This way, they get puzzled and confuses the reptiles as part of the backgrounds.
One time, in my old school in fourth grade, we were actually keeping anoles in glass tanks full of grass. They blended right in. There was a time where it lay waiting. I thought it was part of the grass. Soon, something pink shot out of the green and snatched a cricket that had been nearing it, not knowing that the anole was there, not knowing that it would soon be lunch ( more like a snack). I saw the green moving with bits of cricket coming out of it's mouth. Wait! What mouth? It was then that i realized that all along, it had been an anole that I was watching. Not grass.
Think of it this way, some animals can actually change colors. If you actually think about it hard, it's actually pretty cool, depending on the fact that you've known this all your life without bothering to really think about it. And, they SURVIVE by changing colors. Humans? Nope! The only thing humans are trying to run away from are global warming and 2012.......and maybe homework. Now YOU try changing colors. You can try until your red in the face. Chances are, you're not going to change colors. Trying to change colors so that you won't be caught by your predators? Not on your life!

Chameleons ARE really
Chameleons ARE really cool!!!!!!! OMG i wish i was one, i could blend with any color and be unnoticed!!!!! How awesome would that be? Also, COOL blog!
Awseome blog! I also wish I
Awseome blog! I also wish I was a Chameleon. They are really lucky that they could blend in becasue they'll be unnoticed. Also I never knew anoles could blend in with any color too becasue we also took care of anoles in fourth grade and none of them camouflaged!
Nice descriptions, but it
Nice descriptions, but it would be nice if you could add a bit of information on how they are able to camoflage, because that's what I'm interesting in knowing ...
Did you know that zebras can camoflage, too, depending on who's set of shoes you're in? And by that, I'm refering to the colorblind lions, because they see zebras as a blended mixture of grass or its surrondings, which is cool. :)
