Welcome to Spanish class!
We will be learning how to communicate in new ways through speaking, listening to, reading, and writing Spanish. We will also be exploring Spanish-speaking cultures abroad, and right here in the United States. Come prepared to investigate and try new things!
Hindu Wedding
Project: Travel Agency Dialogue
Draft of dialogue is due on Tuesday, June 1.
Students will improve and rehearse drafts in class. Students may use notes or a script when presenting. Extra credit will be given to those groups who can successfully present without notes. Presentations will begin Wednesday, June 2.
Students may work as a pair (preferred) or in a group of 3, or alone. No groups larger than 3 will be allowed.
Late presentations will lose 10% of the total possible score, per day late.

Review Chapter 3 using the 15 Minute Method (see attached).
Complete 128-129, #2, #4. Answers only (full sentences not necessary).

Project: Dream House (La casa de tus suenos)
See attached project handout for details. Please plan your time carefully. Late projects lose 10% from total possible (100 points) -- per day. In other words, a project 3 days late can receive no higher than a 70.

Proficiency Speaking Outline
I am your friend. You want to tell me about a boy/girl you like. Write a 10-line dialogue between you and your friend.
Proficiency Writing HW
Proficiency Writing (30 words): Your sister's friend is visiting from Venezuela. Write a note including: How long your class has been studying Spanish. What things you'd like to know about her. What her school in Venezuela is like. Activities she is doing in the US. How she likes the US. Counts as 2 hw.
Family Tree Project and Extra Credit Project
See the attached handout. PROJECTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE.
NOTES:
- The family tree is mandatory. You must label all people in the tree with their name and relationship (ie. madre, primo, hermana, etc.) to you. Describe 8 people according to the directions in the handout. The people described must include at least 1 from each generation (ie. abuelo, tío, hermano).
- The photo assignment is an extra credit oral presentation. The presentation is to be prepared ahead of time, as you will not be allowed a script in front of you. You will be graded on your speaking performance. You must describe at exactly 4 people.

Expresate 1A, pp. 166-167
Complete the following activities, based on the information given in the above pages, and submit the complete assignment on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. All work may be done in English, unless you are a heritage learner [prior knowledge of written Spanish]. The assignment is worth 3 HW grades.
A. List the 18 places from the map key on p. 166. Next to each one, write the function the building or structure had in the mission's survival.
B. Answer #1 and #2 (p. 166) in full sentences.

Correct Grammar Tutor (do not erase wrong answers -- cross them out and write the correct ones), using the Answer Key distributed in class Wed 12/23.
Correct and rewrite all incorrect tasks from the Chapter 2 Exam. Include full-sentence explanations as to why the new answer is correct, on a separate page.
Attach Grammar Tutor and Answer Key to Post-Test.
