Asian Culture Club

Anyone in the High School can join.

No requirements to join the club, but regular participation is appreciated

QSI Ice Skating Club

Advisor: Patsy DiMonte

Meetings:  periodic trips to World Ice Arena and other places

Room: 229

Membership: 21 juniors and seniors (membership is set for 2022-23): must keep membership at this level for safety reasons.

Requirements: permission slips and waivers completed promptly; missed class work completed

Cost: possibly for the Bryant Park trip in December (possible fundraising), but all other trips to World Ice Arena are free.

HS Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

Advisors: Ms. Kaufman and Mr. Pineiro

HS Dance/Cheerleading Squad

Advisor: Ms. Huxtable

Meetings: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7th Period

Room: 215/Hallway on Friday

Description: We will be practicing cheer and dance routines to perform in support of QSI OWL sports teams, and QSI showcases to spread SCHOOL SPIRIT!

Requirements to join this club: need to be available after school for events.

Any cost: Cost of uniforms ($70)

Tryouts are hosted during club meetings.

Musical Theatre Production

Advisor: Mr. Carroll

Meetings: Tues/Thurs/Fri 7th Period AND afterschool (TBA)

Description: This club is for 8th-12th grade students and will be responsible for producing a musical theatre production! This may include being an actor or working backstage and technology for the performance.

HS Jewish Student Union (JSU) PENDING

Advisor: Mrs. Kopstick

Meeting: Wednesdays

Room: 202

Description: This culture club aims to learn about Jewish heritage, Jewish identity, and connection to Israel while also learning about Jewish opportunities in their communities and future college campuses.

Who can join: Any HS student

Cost: None. Kosher Pizza will be served. Pizza is sponsored by the organization.

National Honor Society

Advisor: Ms. Stellatos and Ms. Ward

Meeting: Fridays 3:30 pm (NHS Tutoring Wednesday/Friday 6th period)

Room: 230

Description of the club: The National Honor Society works to improve our community and combat social issues.  We raise donations and volunteer our time to various organizations.

Requirements to join this club:

  • You must be a 10th or 11th-grade student to apply
  • commit to 30 hours of community service
  • 88 average or a 3.3 GPA and above
  • One Letter of Recommendation

 

 

 

HS Knitting Club.

Friday 7th period for HS

All high school students.

No requirements; we will teach everyone who is interested. Mainly student lead.

IN OUR CLUB, WE MAKE SCARVES, BEANIES, AND MITTENS WHILE HAVING FUN! MAKE AN IMPACT IN OUR COMMUNITY AS WE WILL BE DONATING OUR CREATIONS TO SHELTERS OR MATERNITY HOSPITALS!

HS Orchestra

Advisor - Mr. Khan

Meets Mondays, period 7

Room 220

Orchestra is for students who already play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, double bass) and want to continue playing in a group setting.

Grades 6-12

Requirements: It is highly recommended that you know your instrument's basics before joining. If you don’t know how to play, you can still join if you are willing to practice every day at home and take it seriously, but you will need to consult with Mr. Khan.

MS and HS Jazz Band

Meeting time TBD (most likely Wednesdays, 3:00 - 4:30 PM)

The jazz band is for students who already know their instrument and want to explore the world of jazz, rock, blues, pop, Latin, and other contemporary styles in an ensemble setting. We will participate in school concerts.

Grades 6-12

HS Computer Science Club

Meets Wednesday 7th period

Description of the club:  It is a student-led club where you can learn to program in JavaScript and create websites and video games. Hang out with others interested in Computer Science.

High School students only. No prior experience is required.

Requirements: Must be willing to learn, participate and do projects.

Description: We will solve fun, challenging math problems and compete in math competitions. This will help you see math from a different perspective and improve your critical thinking.

High School students work on preparing the Seniors’ Yearbook. Join if you are a senior or a high school student and/or creative and want to leave your mark. Mostly student-led but with teachers’ supervision.
